Thrombolysis is part of an integrated approach to coronary ischemic syndromes, particularly of myocardial infarction. Applying thrombolysis in the case of an individual patient does not make sense without considering complementary therapies, especially PCTA, which surpass the scope of a TIGC guideline.
The TIGC thus recommends linking to the American College of Cardiology website www.acc.org particularly the "Clinical Statement/Guidelines" section, where 1999 revised ACC/AHAGuidelines on Myocardial Infarction are well detailed with updates highlighted. As of August 2003, these guidelines are the most recent, are readily available and do not need registration or membership.
